通過公示的專利信息，我們能夠有望提前看到汽車廠商對于未來車輛的創意設計。根據特斯拉最新獲批的技術專利，能夠根據駕駛員和乘客的偏好來調整車內的光線。援引外媒Electrek報道，這項專利名稱為“高級天窗照明系統”，概述了一種采用多層架構的天窗，并具備傳統玻璃所無法具備的一些優勢。
首先最直觀的優勢就是添加了一層可電控的調光材料，能夠限制通過天窗進入的光量。這有明顯的好處，可以防止陽光照顧駕駛員的視線或乘客的舒適感。第二個優勢就是創造屬于自己的光源。在天窗內嵌入了一層可以發光的層，這樣在沒有外部光源的情況下天窗依然能夠為車內提供有限的照明，并且允許駕駛員和乘客通過中控臺的娛樂系統對顏色和強度進行調整。
而這是同時具備遮光和發光的天窗專利。而事實上這兩套系統已經出現在高端汽車中，梅賽德斯 - 奔馳的Magic Sky Control功能可以在天窗的玻璃上配備了電動調光器；而寶馬的Sky Lounge則在天窗中嵌入了LED照明。
